A long time ago when I was a kid growing up with an NES and Super Nintendo, I remember a lot of games like Shredder’s Revenge. They were a pretty common style of game, I specifically remember Double Dragon and Battletoads. I also had friends with Sega and we’d play streets of rage. I also remember watching the Ninja Turtles cartoons and the movies. Suffice it to say I was really looking forward to The new Turtles game and it did not disappoint at all. Right away I was grabbed by the art style. I absolute love pixel art in games and Shredder’s Revenge executes it exceptionally well. Each turtle and other character looks great. I also read that the voice cast who did the cartoons are the ones who’ve voiced the Ninja Turtles in this game. My memory isn’t that good, but combine that fact with the pixel art and old school video game feel and I felt like a kid again. During my playthrough, I didn’t notice a single hitch in the frame rate. I played through the game courtesy if gamepass on my Xbox Series X and it was solid the entire time. The game plays smooth and the only hiccups were from my own mistakes and getting knocked down. There is incentive to play the game multiple times as well. You can get slightly different endings with each character and they all have slightly different stats. This challenges you in different enough ways to want to try the other characters. This doesn’t wear thin either as the game isn’t terribly long. My friend and I beat it in co-op in about 3 or 4 hours and we had an absolute blast. After the credits rolled, we only wanted more. In my mind, the game is 100% worth your time if you have gamepass and if you don’t, it’s worth the cost of the game. Great game, great fun, and it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.
