Little more than a remake of TMNT: The Arcade Game, The Manhatten Project still holds up as a fun two-player beat-em-up.

Resting on a beach from their last ventures, the turtles are once again called into action to battle their nemesis, Shredder.

The only distinct difference, other than the story and game environments, from TMNT: The Arcade Game, is that to use the special attack of one of the four now requires sacrificing a small amount of health as a result.

This means that the days of repeatedly pressing the A & B buttons together and performing a special move to instantly kill Foot Clan members one after another is through, with the life loss the special moves are best saved for the level's end boss.

Like TMNT: The Arcade Game, you have your choice of the four original turtles to play as, with the chance of changing the turtle you are playing as every time you use a continue.

Slightly more difficult than TMNT: The Arcade Game, TMNT: The Manhattan Project maintains the exciting two-player play across several levels with occasional cutscenes inbetween.

Fans of the film, TV, and/or videogame series will enjoy this game whose style is shared with TMNT: The Arcade Game, differs greatly from the original TMNT Nintendo game, and pales in comparison to TMNT: Turtles In Time on the Super Nintendo.
