User Rating: 9.5 | Team Fortress 2 PC
After 9 long years of waiting, nobody expected that there was actually going to be a sequel for the immensely popular Team Fortress, from 1998. It's understandable that all the fans and a big group of newbies to the game were very cheerful when it finally came out, in 2007, beyond all expectations. Even though everyone was excited, only one question was burning on millions of people's lips: "Is it any good?"

Team Fortress 2 is, just as its predecessor, a multiplayer-focused game, in which you can play as nine classes (Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper and Spy) with each their own tactics, weapons and gameplay style. From the pure stealth-based spy, to the defensive machinery of the engineer. Everyone has what he wants. Even sandwiches.

So the game has nice gameplay with a lot of variety, but what about the graphics? Well, if you're into comics, and cartoons, and games that don't take theirselves to seriously in general, then you'll love the apart art style this game has to offer. Other than that, the game has a huge, constantly updated amount of different weapons and - you saw it coming - hats. In the beginning the only thing you'll think about hats is that it's a "big fuss about nothing, really", but the longer you play the game, the more you become part of it, because once you're sucked in, the hats won't let you go, you'll spend every single penny you earn on those bloody little cosmetics. But enough about that, the point is that the game offers you more than plenty of bits and pieces to customize your different classes to your own likings.

So is there anything that isn't absolutely fabulous? Well, there are some little things that could make the game just a teeny bit better, but they're barely even worth mentioning: for example, the game has no in-game soundtrack, which can deliver some boring moments if there's nothing happening for a second. And sometimes you'll catch yourself swearing at the game because sometimes the balance between some classes is just a little unfair (search Google for W+M1 and you'll know exactly what I mean). But apart from that, Team Fortress 2 is a game that was well worth the money you paid for it - because right now it's free! That's right: you get one of the best class-based strategic shooters of all time and don't even pay a single penny (apart from the hats that you'll get addicted to later on)? That's a deal even ol' McScrooge can't refuse.

So download it today, Team Fortress 2, the one and only Hat Simulator!
