wow, gamespot. i'd had more faith in you. This game is one the the RPG greats.

They battle system, the story, the characters, the world. What isn't great about this game? Ok, i give you that the battle system can get a little repetitive and the game is realitively easy, fine you can have that. But all in all it is a solid game. The best part is the characters. Each one has a unique personality and each one is hysterical in their own way. They never seem to get along well but they are always their for each other.
The story line is fun and involving and gets you thinking. It's not the best but it holds up to so many flawed rpg storylines. Their a fake endings, an early ending if you cheat to make yourself super strong at the near beginning of the game ( or if you're really really good).
Yes, the game is easy and the battle system can get old if constantly fighting, but this is still one of the best rpg's ever made.
