Super Smash T.V. is a perfect port of one of the best arcade games of all time.

User Rating: 9.4 | Smash T.V. SNES
Smash T.V. is a game where everything takes a backseat to entertainment. All of the elements come together in a way that makes the game constantly fun to play and completely devoid of filler. Though the game may seem devoid of any depth at first, the game is so much fun that you will return to it over and over again. .

For the few of you who don't know, Smash T.V. is a top down shooter where you can shoot in any direction while you move in another. In the arcade, this was done by having two joysticks, but the Snes version does not have this. Instead, the buttons control the direction you shoot and you move with the control pad. Though this wears down your thumbs after a while, it allows you to change your shooting direction much faster than the joysticks did. Though the game is simple, it never gets old. Trying to rush through hordes of enemies to grab that three-way shot or surviving in the corner as the enemies close in is constantly thrilling. To put it simply, games do not get any more fun or intense than Smash T.V. .

The only things that are different in the Snes version from the arcade game is that the characters are a bit smaller (though they have more realistic proportions), the voice is more digitized, the music is different and there is less gore. The music is better than the arcade game and the digitized voice adds to the campy factor that this game is full of. The graphics don't look amazing but they do have a lot of character. Most importantly, the game has no slowdown or graphical glitches, considering that this game has more going on in it than any other Snes game, this is an incredible feat. .

In the end, Super Smash T.V. is an amazing game. It is constantly fun and intense and it never has parts that stand out as being weaker than the rest of the game. The game show motif helps make the pursuit of big money and prizes all the more satisfying. The simple gameplay means you can play the 2-player mode with anybody you like and always have fun. Though games today put much more emphasis on story, artificial intelligence and limitless depth; Super Smash T.V. shows that video games have always been and will always: be about fun.
