Terrific multi-player! Grab this one for the wife!
GRAPHICS -
Typically, not important for a puzzle game, especially not one based off of Tetris. The highlight of Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo Remix's graphics are the pint-sized Capcom characters fighting it out, complete with trademark finishing moves. It just adds that little touch to a chain combo when you finish off your opponent in a flash of light and a Dragon Punch.
SOUND -
Like graphics, not a focus of the game, which is good because the music gets old really quick. The noises your characters make may add to the back and forth of a good match, but I always put on music from my 360's hard drive.
GAMEPLAY -
As it should be, the best part of the game is how it actually plays. It really is a perfect mash-up of Tetris and a fighting game. Clear gems from your side, and they get sent over to your opponent's. Control is spot-on and each player gets the same drops so no one can complain. Four different modes add to the variety, which is already impressive for an XBLA game, boasting 11 characters and up to 4 player matches.
My wife and I are both able to enjoy the incredibly simple, yet fast and varied gameplay, most importantly, we can play it against one another and no one has to get hurt.
