Monkey Ball's conversion to PS2 was great, but there are a few misses.

User Rating: 7.2 | Super Monkey Ball Deluxe PS2
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is now available on the PS2, so PS2 fans will be able to enjoy the fun as well. However, some stuff did not do well in the conversion.

Bad stuff:

Frame rate - The game's performance is slower than the other games. If you have played the original Monkey Ball games on the Gamecube, you will notice a big difference. On the enter high score screen, the performance plunges very low.

Too many levels in a set - If you are going to play challenge mode, you're going to spend a long time playing some of the level sets. Expert has over 100 levels you must beat to clear its set. Sometimes, levels can take forever to do. This will take you a very long time to complete something so huge.

No infinite continues - This needed to be adapted into Monkey Ball Deluxe. All in all, it was a great feature for the original games; it let you keep trying to get to the end no matter how lives you lost. Not possible here.

Slow load time - The Gamecube games would take only nanoseconds to load. This one however, takes over 30 seconds. Too long.

Good stuff:

50 new levels - The new levels are a ton of fun to play, and mix in well with the level sets.

PS2 controller fun - Monkey ball is a lot of fun to play on the PS2 controller, although getting used to the position of the analog stick on the Gamecube and the PS2 can take some getting used to.

Widescreen capabilities - If you have a widescreen TV, playing Monkey Ball will look awesome.

All in all, this is a very good reccomendation to Monkey Ball fans who don't have a Gamecube. Worth a play.
