Gamespot.com is willing to give any game that isn't sonic an 8.0 or higher

User Rating: 5.5 | Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz WII
Ok, This game isn't so much overrated by people that as it is Gamespot decided to. Also, IGN gave it a pretty descent score too, and for what its worth, its almost not a bad game, but in comparison to the others, its a HUGE dissapointment, mainly because of the controlls, which are somewhat forgiveable, seeing as this was one of the wii's lauch titles. The first problem is the controlls, they are just akward, and they feel wrong, couldn't they have had it so you turn the wiimote sideways and tilted it that way? Then the inclusion of the jump, why did they have to include that, all the other monkey ball games were good without it, and heres where it gets screwed up. You can jump over the obstacles that in any other given way would be a challenge, but the parts where you are supposed to jump are rediculisly difficult. It is highly annoying, and it just doesn't belong in a monkey ball game. Then you have the camera, and its just awful, esspecially in the boss fights, which is another thing. The boss fights have some of the worst controlls in the entire game, its just awful.

Its really just so dissapointing because the other games had a good challenge, but since its already challenging with the controlls, the only way to make the levels challenging is to extend them to 2 minutes, and if you die, its all the way back to the beggining. The menu is another problem, why does everything have to be controlled with a motion, you'll be sliding all over the place on the menu because you have to rotated the wiimote.

This brings us to the worst part of the game. THE MULTIPLAYER MINI GAMES! congradulations sega! you have successfully shuffelled the all the fun multiplayer asspects out of the series, well done. Now, you can't even play multiplayer challenge mode. It was already bad enough they took the racing out of Super Monkey Ball when 2 came out, but now, the game's only form of multiplayer is the PARTY GAMES, AND THERE ARE 50!!!!!!! thats right, there are 50 mini games, you'd think that makes up for it, well, Im gonna blow your mind kiddies, THEY ALL SUCK!

granted, that is a bit of an exagerration because there are some fun mini games, but the controlls for all of them suck. Its really dissapointing. This game is still fun, just no wheres near as good as its older brothers. I just hope next time sega says "Nintendo, we know you like your motion controlls, but the super monkey ball franchise is best controlled with a stick". And if that doesn't work, hell, you've got the 360 and PS3, make your move.
