Super Mario World for the SNES was incredible. In 2002, Nintendo brought back the fun of the original to the Game Boy Advance. Not only is it just as fun as the original, but the things Nintendo's added to it make it an even better experience.
The game is the classic Mario Formula: Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped yet again by Bowser, and has appointed his 7 Koopaling children to steal Yoshi eggs (this was Yoshi's first appearance) and guard them in a different section of the huge Dinosaur Island. It's up to Mario and Luigi to take back the Island!
The quality of the game is excellent. There is no lag or stopping of any kind. The game runs smoothly all the way, no matter how big the level. Graphics have been slightly enhanced, and the sound and music is improved. Nintendo even put voice clips in there.
This isn't a short game by any means. There are a total of ***SPOILER*** 96 exits to find in the game, and on top of that, there are 5 special Dragon Coins to collect in each level, so you'll be working with this game for quite a while. As you find secret exits, you'll unlock new places on the map that will lead to special places or create shortcuts. It's really cool once you've found them all, because you get a really special surprise if you do.
There are all your favorite power-ups plus some new. You've got the classic Mushroom, Fire Flower and Starman. You also have the Cape, a new powerup that lets you knock enemies off the screen and soar through the air. You can find Yoshi Eggs and ride on the back of Yoshi, a dinosaur-like friend whose friends have been captured by Bowser. Depending on wht shell he eats, you can have different powers. When he eats a green shell, he can spit it back out, with a red shell, he can spit fire, a blue shell grants you flight, and a yellow shell lets you become heavy and stomp the ground to defeat enemies.
Super Mario World isn't the only game in this awesome Game Pak. Nintendo's included the original Mario Bros. Arcade Game, as they did in the first Mario Advance. If you have a Link Cable and a couple of friends with Game Boys, you can play this game in a battle mode with only 1 game pak, or a Co-Op mode if everyone has their own(you don't need Mario Advance 2 only, you could link up i.e. Mario Advance 2 and Mario advance 3 to play the same game).
Nintendo didn't rest on their laurels when making this game. They've crammed every little bit of fun into this game as possible, and you should get this game, whether you have a Game Boy Advance, DS, or Game Boy Player. It's an outstanding addition to any Game Boy Collection.
