I guess I understand why people are so excited, but...
First off, I'd like to say that this game is a fun fifteen minutes of fun, but if you play it more than that, I'm afraid of you breeding. Duck hunt, well, is hunting ducks. You sit in front of the screen and shoot. This may have been fun, but it was NOT revolutionary. See, back in the day, parents were afraid that if they brought shooter games into the homes, their children will... I dunno, get rabies. Duck hunt was the kiddied-up excuse for enteractive home entertainment. Not a revolution, mind you, an excuse.
As for Mario... Look, Mario is a lame excuse for a game, but that's just my opinion. It's one of those games that are... too original. Even in my wildest shroom high, I'd never have thought of that, and I would have had a hyrnia if I imagined it being one of the most popular games that would end up skyrocketing it's founding company to even be IN LEAGUE with Sony or Microsoft. I admit, I had fun, but it's very easy to put down and it makes you sit back and wonder... WHO smoked WHAT to make THAT?! To top that off, there were many many many side scrollers around, the only reason the this is remotely revolutionary is because it's the first one to land on home consoles that wasn't some suicide-inducing jumble of pixels (*cough* E.T).
And what annoys me the most is that... you people still PLAY IT?! I can name 100 different games that have come out withing the past 6 years that shoves a watermelon up this game's bunghole. Video games don't have feelings, if you stop playing them, they don't get sad. I understand that it reminds you of your childhood, but don't let your sentimental mentality get in the way of some real, quality game time. Put down the NES, go to Ruby Tuesday and eat some chicken fingers, and live in the now.
