It's often misunderstood, but anyone willing to give Mario Bros. 2 a chance could fall in love with it.

Super Mario Bros. 2 was the oddball of the original trilogy. The game wasn't even Mario Bros. in Japan. It was "Doki Doki Panic". Mario Bros. 2 is the only game that allows you to choose Princess Peach and Toad as playable characters. The Mario Bros. themselves are playable characters as well, of course. Each character has their own specialty. Luigi can jump higher than any character, Toad runs faster than any character, Peach can glide through the air, and Mario is a solid runner and jumper. Most of the baddies you know from the first Mario Bros. are gone. And instead of jumping on your foe's head to defeat them, you can either pluck a turnip out of the ground and throw it at them, or jump on their head, pick them up, and throw them. At the end of nearly every stage you'll have to fight a mini-boss named Birdo, who shoots eggs out of his mouth. Yes, HIS mouth. By defeating Birdo you will obtain an orb that will allow you to pass threw an owl's mouth to go threw to the next stage. The game's enemies and bosses are very creative and fun to fight. The original NES game was pretty straightforward. Complete all the stages and you beat the game. The GBA adds a little something extra. After completing the game you can go through all of the stages and collect all 40 of Yoshi's Eggs. It's a good addition that gives the game more value. Mario Bros. 2 is a great looking game on the GBA. It's a fancified version that appeared on the Super Mario All-Stars cartridge on the NES. The game sounds good as well. The tunes are extremely catchy, but the game's few voice overs come out a bit fuzzy on the GBA. Super Mario Bros. 2 has always been one of my absolute favorite games in the series.
