Great dungeon crawler with a fun storyline

User Rating: 8.5 | Summon Night: Craft Sword Monogatari GBA
I have been experimenting with many GBA and DS(not that there is very many) RPG's lately, and I finally stumbled upon Summon Night: Swordcraft Story. First of all, I have been not been able to put it down. The game was brought here from Japan a year ago(Jul 26th 2006) and I think it might have been somewhat overlooked by all the GBA/DS game frenzy at that time. Swordcraft story is a traditional dungeon delving rpg. You play as either a boy or girl, you answer some questions to decide what helper/pet you will get as your sidekick and you start one of the coolest adventure's I've seen yet. You are entered into the tournament to become a craftlord. You obviously have a great deal of crafting weapons in the game, you actually make all your weapons. You learn recipes for new weaponry, and you forge them with materials you get from a 50+ level deep dungeon called the labyrinth. in the dungeon you use the weapons you make. You can craft swords, spears, axes, knuckles and drills. each has their own details from faster, to heavier damage; longer reaching weapons like spears, to drills that obviously do some nice damage if you use them right. Combat does take a bit of skill, since swordcraft story is not a turn based rpg, its real time. You run, jump, defend and attack. The game is pretty deep actually, and that is what some people like in a rpg. Now, during all of this, your pet / follower adds to the battles as well.
The 50+ level dungeon isnt the only thing going for you. Every so often you are summoned to the arena for a tournament battle, this is where the story line comes from and your relationship with many different characters. The story line is real interesting, and I find myself laughing every once in a while about how I cant believe this GBA game is so cool.

Try it if you like RPG's, and if you dont like rpg's then.. sorry.
