Review: Suikoden 3

The Suikoden RPG series was one of the first RPG Series on the Playstation and one of my personal favorite RPG's of the recent years, Suikoden 2 is considered by many to be one of the best RPG's made. Suikoden 3 is the First game of the Series on the PS2, can it live up to the rest of the series?

Story:
Suikoden 3 tries something new, in that instead of following one person's story line like most RPG's, they follow 3 characters storylines separately that intertwines with the other characters and eventually connects into one path after a while, and you get to select who the hero will be!

Graphics:
While the graphics are stunning and beautiful, the character animation is rather stiff; this being said you really won't notice much with the level of beauty that was spent on the rest of the game

Music:
The soundtrack is good the music is fitting, and carries the story along well, but the rest of us RPG lovers have defiantly heard better, Same goes for the sound used in Suikoden 3, and I would have personally like to hear some voice acting

Control:
If you have played a Suikoden game you will be overjoyed that almost everything remains the same. As it proteins to the battle system you have 2 rows of warriors, with three characters in each row, and you can use the menu to select the attack of your choice

Design:
Suikoden 3 is well thought out, and beautiful, there are 108 characters that not only have their own storyline but their own wants and needs, and strengths and weaknesses in battle. And how can you not love a character that has a pet Griffin named FUBAR! The world Suikoden 3 is set in is lush and different although set in a small area bringing local politics are more into the forefront.

Though I would have liked to see fewer random battles with enemies that are way too weak, and character animations that are way to stiff, RPG fanatics will find a lot to love here, all of its flaws are minor and really dosn't detract from the game play much, and the game its self is excellent and worth every penny

Suikoden 3:

Pros:
Pretty graphics
A lot of cool characters to play as
Great Story
Good soundtrack and sound

Cons:
Stiff animations
A lot of unwanted random battles
