Not for everyone, but a good game for the right person

I felt compelled to review this game mainly because i think Gamespot uncharacteristically dropped the ball on this one.

First of all, Sudden Strike is not a game for everyone.

If you can imagine presiding as a god over a massive battle, in which you hold the power over each soldier and piece of hardware on the field, then you'll begin to get an appreciation of how this game plays out.

You will need patience demanded of games like the 'Total War' series, yet if you enjoy micromanaging troops right down to shackling cannons onto the back of trucks, sending wounded troops to the mobile hospital, and deciding which troops man your various guns, then this game could be for you.

You have total freedom deciding how and where to advance on the enemy, including bombing towns and it surrounds with long range guns if you so choose.

You must arrange your perimeters and its defences carefully, as enemy troops can spot your armies early if you aren't careful, and the inevitable explosion of their own long range artillery will rain down upon you.

Whatever the enemy has - you can own!

machine guns, artillery....the trick though is to disable them without destroying them.

If you enjoy sitting back and taking your time in games, and want to control hundreds of troops, guns and vehicles, then Sudden Strike could be the game for you, though first person shooter types need not apply ;)
