Practice, stick with it, and this game is greatly rewarding.

User Rating: 9.3 | Stuntman PS2
First, I must say that this is my personal favorite game ever, not as definitive now with Need For Speed: Most Wanted. I give this game a 10/10, even with the actual scoring process coming out as 9.3. This point of this game, if you don't know, is to perform movie and stadium type stunts as a professional stuntman. First off, the physics of this game are perfect for it. Arcadey enough to make the stunts, but still easy to control. The gameplay was only hindered by the long loading times and the general "Guess and check" gameplay, which can get frustrating. The graphics of this game aren't much to see today (the game is from 2002), but are plenty good enough to take care of the stunts well, with little or no slowdown even with huge explosions all around. I rated the graphics an eight using three areas: Graphics when released (8.5); graphics today (6.0); and how the graphics work with the game (9.5). The average is 8.0. The sound is good, with the music from each movie being distinct, well fitting, and not overwhelming or bothersome. The vehicle noises are great, with engine sounds that not only differ from car to car, but actually fit the type of car you're driving. The director's voice is generic and monotenous, and is helpful, but can get annoying. If they had made a different director's voice for each movie, it would have been more realistic and less irritating. The value of this game is great. A stunt constructor mode increases replay value dramatically, as do the driving games, and it forces you to go back and learn the movie stunts better to get more cars and pieces to use in the stunt constructor, which is a great way to have people still play the career part of the game. The value increases today, considering that you can pick it up for $20.00 or less.

One of the most frustrating parts of this game is the difficulty and learning curve, which are both incredibly high. The game doesn't have any introduction into the career, so you just jump right in and have to get it right, and there are still stunts I haven't 100 percented yet, and I got the game when it was releases! The upside to this is that the game is really rewarding. The prizes for completion of stunts are good, but to have a game where when you finally beat a level, you gasp, stare at the TV for about 20 seconds, then to actually jump up and dance is a great self-esteem reward, although you might not want to play Stuntman in front of your friends, as you will probably ignore them for a half hour playing one level, and then dance and make a fool of yourself.

Stuntman was, and still is, a great game in about every way. Atari, heed this call! Either make the Driver series like 500% better, and/or make a sequel to Stuntman, Please!!
