FULL REVIEW: Stubbs the Zombie is one of the most fun Xbox games around, but its length brings it down.

User Rating: 8.5 | Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse XBOX
Stubbs the Zombie is an Xbox Original game now available on the Xbox 360 Marketplace for 1200 MS Points ($15 in America). Wideload and Aspyr created this game in which you take part as a zombie in a peaceful 1950's city (which is somehow in the future) named Punchbowl. So, is controlling a zombie army as much fun as it sounds? Read the review to find out.

GAMEPLAY
You're not just a weak, mindless zombie in this game. Stubbs has quite a few powers, from rolling your head like a bowling ball to passing gas to stun nearby enemies. Guns shouldn't be too much of a problem to you, because you'll be able to throw your organs like a grenade at medium range. Another useful ability is throwing your hand. You will be able to possess most of your enemies to use their weapons against their own kind. There's one fun way to recharge these powers: by eating brains. You can walking up to an unarmed civilian and eating their brain with the touch of a button, or stun armed opponents. The abilities usually come out to be very fun, even though crawling around with your hand can be a bit tricky at times with a strange camera angle. The camera usually works fine at other times, though. One complaint I have it the fact that there's no way to run. I remember play one of the levels and it took me about twice as long at the others because I had to walk a long distance because my hover car got stuck. Most of the gameplay is pretty fun, though.

There is multiplayer in the game, but no online play. However, I did play it with a friend and had a lot of fun. So, if you've got this game and a friend at your house and this game, give multiplayer a shot.

The worst thing about it is probably that it is really short. If you're looking for a long game, this isn't it. I beat it with a friend in two segments in one day, and I'm guessing about four to five hours total.

STORY
There really isn't much of a story in Stubbs. You're a zombie that moved into a futuristic city, and you're trying to find the love of your real life. You get to briefly know a few characters, but there's not much to it, sadly. I don't think the game needs too much of a story, though.
STORY SCORE: 7.0 out of 10

GRAPHICS
For an Xbox game, the graphics aren't bad. The character models could be a little more detailed, but it gets the point across. All together the graphics can look nice for an Xbox game, so they're really not too bad.
GRAPHICS SCORE: 8.0 out of 10

THE SMALL STUFF

CONTROLS: The controls are pretty basic and run together smoothly. You'll be able to memorize the special attack controls pretty easily, although you might mix some up by accident. The normal controls are easy to get. A to jump, X to attack, Y to eat brains. The game always reminds you when you can eat a brain and what to press, which can either be annoying or good depending on your thoughts.
CONTROLS SCORE: 8.25 out of 10

SOUND: The voice acting in the game can be very funny, although you might hear some of the same screams as you devour the humans. There's usually no music when you're playing, but you will finds some music which is wonderful. I would definitely recommend to buy the soundtrack.
SOUND SCORE: 9.25 out of 10

REPLAY: Well, there really isn't much replay value. You can search for hidden commentary tracks, but it's not very rewarding. There are only a couple unlockables. If you really love the game, you might want to play again, but if you think it's alright, maybe not so much.
REPLAY VALUE: Low

NITPICKS: Vehicles can get stuck very easily.
"DOESN'T BUG YA" SCORE: 9.0 out of 10
