What else is new huh? Man this is going to be a long review... Back in 1995 a movie was created in the image of the street fighter series. That was the first mistake. you think they would of learned their lesson then right? Wrong! The made a video game tie end! now...lets get one thing straight right now...
If you make a movie based on a game or, vice versa, the results are going to be bad or horrible 50% of the time. Now, If you make a game based on a movie, based on a game, the results are going to be 75% to 100% bad or horrible. Seems like nobody told the guys at Capcom and, Acclaim this vital bit of information, And we the gamers have to suffer the wrath of the video game movie tie end monster... Again!
This breed of monster is what I call an "video game siren". The Siren lures hapless sailors with her voice and beauty. but in reality it is ugly and, wants to eat you. but by the time you realize it, its already too late. in the case of the video game siren, the gamers are the sailors. the sea is the video game genre we play. in this case, fighting games. the song that lures us to our death? The hype and graphics of the game. The death we suffer? Buying this game and playing it, then realizing we can return the game because we lost the sales receipt!
I was 14 when I saw this movie... I thought it would be decent. but I should of known better because Jean Claude Van Damme was the star... Considering the fact that the SF story was based around Ryu and Ken for the most part, should of also gave me a clue to how bad the movie was going to be... I miss the ignorance of youth... You live and you learn. Now, I should of kept my hopes at a Trent Reznor low about a game that was based on that mediocre movie but, the ignorance of youth bit me in the ass once again! Why must the innocent suffer, God? Why?
If hell is based on Dante's Inferno, I believe SFTM the game is in the circle where suicides victims are turned in to trees. Why? Playing this game might cause you to commit suicide eventually. Check the bullet points and find out why.
* Bad music...If you want to call it that...
*Sluggish Jerky controls...How can they be both at once? Beats the hell out of me...
*Decent graphics if, you like Mortal Kombat. But if you like that game, you should be playing that instead of this.
*Sound was annoying. the characters sounded so goofy even by 1995 standards!
*Unbalanced Gameplay. Thats putting it mildly! it was more of a mixed bag of craziness to me.
*No variety most of the game modes are cheap rip offs of Mortal Kombat and KOF. the Endurance matches and the 2 fighter team elimination match.
I could go further about this game and its many flaws that out weigh the little good the game had. but I'm sure you all get the point by now. This game is bad. At least its better than Aquaman, Daikatana and Drake of the 99 dragons. That ain't saying much though!
