Street Fighter II is a great game that's great for a quick fight

User Rating: 8.7 | Street Fighter II SNES
The Street Fighter II series is great, no doubt about it. The first game (Street Fighter II) isn't as good as the later editions but is still a great game to play.

Graphics-The graphics are pretty good. They're just like the old-school arcade graphics that I remember. Each character has load of animations and moves and all of the stages are beautiful to look at, with crowds cheering and shouting.

Sound-The sound is beautiful. Each stage has its own theme, and every theme is great. Sometimes I just listen to the music via the option screen. Truely great.

Gameplay-There are only two modes, arcade and versus. In arcade you select your fighter and compete in the world fighting tournament that is Street Fighter. Each character has their own huge list of moves and combos. This was one of the first fighting games to have combos, a series of attacks that couldn't be stopped if the first move was executed correctly. Versus just pits you against one of your mates, this adds to the life of the game.

Innotive-Like I said, one of the first games to feature combos. Other than that and the special moves it's not that original.

Value-The beauty of this game is that you can play it almost anytime. A quick fight against the computer or your mate is fun. That's not to say that it isn't a lengthy game. With selectable difficulty and 8 different characters it really is a great game to play any time.

The Verdict-Street Fighter II isn't the best in the series, so if you want to wait and see if Street Fighter II turbo get released for virtual console then do that. But this edition of Street Fighter II is great fun to play, whether you're new to the series or if you have fond memories of it, it's a great game to download now.
