A great array of classics; but some issues keep it from being the best Anniversary Package.

User Rating: 8 | Street Fighter Anniversary Collection XBOX
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection includes two games; Street Fighter 2 (five of its versions) and Street Fighter 3: The Third Strike. It also includes the Street Fighter anime movie. I'll review all these separately; but for a change of pace; I'll start with the movie.

STREET FIGHTER MOVIE:

The movie is a good watch; and definitely a good package-add in, no doubt. It's cheesy; but that's part of the appeal. However; there are some flaws in it. First; there is no original japanese version, and I'm no weeaboo; but frankly the voice acting is pretty bad. I mean; annoying at times. Plus the whole cast lacked emotion; which really hindered the otherwise good movie. Also; they censored a few things. They removed Chun Li's shower scene (Don't give me that look; Chun Li is hot; and that was one of the most famous/notorious parts of the movie) and they toned a few other things down. Censored is an accurate term; all that they kept was the mild violence and small amounts of language. Generally it's a good family movie now; but any sense of suspense isn't there thanks to the censorship and poor dub quality. 5.5/10

STREET FIGHTER II:

First off; I never got to play this as a kid; so the nostalgia isn't there; but I can still appreciate this game simply because it was an awesome fighting game, and having five versions of characters to pick from is great. The fighting is simple and fun as always; and easy to get behind; especially in multiplayer or online. However; the AI of computer enemies is seriously showing its age; with a lot of repeated combos and move-spamming which seriously takes the fun out of some fights. Plus not to mention that despite being an anniversary collection; there are NO unlockables to be seen. No character art, extra characters, movies beyond what is there from the start, no incentive to really play beyond just wanting to punch stuff. It's a shame, because you would think an Anniversary Collection would be more like a big celebration with all sorts of new things to look at; and past-history; but all that was really added was a version-tie in and online play. Despite my gripes though; it is still one of the best SNES games ever made and still fun today. 7.5/10

Street Fighter III:

Here is where the collection shines! This is one of the best 2D fighters I have ever played; and the roster is great! The game is fun; and versus is addicting! The music is great; and the fighting and parrying is intense and drawing. The only thing I can honestly complain about is the lack of Cammy. But fanboyism aside; it's a fighting game as a fighting game is meant to be. It also includes online play too; so that is worth looking into. 9/10
