Paradise repeated

User Rating: 7 | Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin PC

Stranger of paradise ; Final Fantasy origin is a strange entry in the final fantasy universe.

The Feel:

An action RPG unlike any of the others it feels like the inspiration was taken from more of the modern dungeon crawler games out there. In key points of the game the difficulty spikes suddenly. This won't be a problem for most souls players but can catch some off guard. Items and rewards can be affected by the difficulty you play on but it is not as noticeable as I thought it would be. cooperative play is divided into missions and can be a good casual time waster with a friend.

The control:

The game controls beautifully, combat is tough and quick, you will need to pay attention because even a low-key skeleton will take a good chunk of your life if you slip up. Combos can be set to your liking making combat unique enough that it can keep being fun throughout all 28 job classes. It suffers for a bit of the souls game timing lag, you know what kind, the kind leaving you frustrated because you did heal, or dodge on time but “didn’t”.

Sound design:

The most interesting music choices for a game place in the world before the first final fantasy, overall nice enough to keep on but not as memorable as others. The voice work is perfect, constant chatter can be heard from your team, it's clear and that is all I really ask for. The voice work of Mocean Melvinis amazing and I hope to hear him in many more games to come

The Story:

The story is quite oddly laid out, for one part the ending is obvious to see but how they get to it is quite interesting, it struggles a bit with being a little too obvious and in a way that takes some of the fun away. It's quite easy to get lost in the details of the story and it takes an odd shift near the end where context feels disconnected from the previous plots.

Overall I hated this game until I put it down for a few months. It took time to learn all its tricks and mechanics but it was well worth it in the end. It was a fun action packed story that nobody expected or needed but hey I'm glad we have it.
