The Sports Sleeper Hit Of The Year!

As you have probably seen, I have named Stoked to be the "Sleeper Hit" of 2009. For those who don't know, a sleeper hit has 2 meanings... Its either a low budget game which hasn't had much hype but it turned out to be one of the most popular games of the year - This is not stoked.
Stoked is the 2nd meaning. Stoked is the game which had a low budget, barely any advertising, apart from 1 trailer on xbox live, but after picking it up, it turned out to be brilliant.

Stoked is a technical masterpiece, for many reasons, such as the fact that Stoked has a unique weather system, that is realistic - Due to the fact it replicates the last week from weather reports in the different countries. The weather then effects the mountain, and the tasks in it, such as if you are supposed to do a jump then a grab or spin, and one day when there has been barely any snow and you just cannot manage it since the jump is too small - If there has been a day of solid snow, then the jump would be larger so you could do it easily.

Stoked features 5 mountains, which all look unique, yet since it is realistic and doesnt have stores to goto, they all feel very similar, but since each mountain is quite big, this doesnt matter that much since you are normally speeding down the mountain doing different challenges, but near the end of the game, you do start to feel like you are going down the same slopes, even though they look completely different.

But the main drawback of Stoked is the challenges. They do start to feel repetitive, but due to them being short and quick you start to get used to them since they do only take about 20 seconds to do once you start to get used to the controls.

Before I finish, I must mention the level of realism. I've already mentioned the weather system implanted in the game, but the way you ride, the fluidity and the preciseness that you need to have (I think I just made a word up :D) to land tricks makes the game difficult, but all the more rewarding.

Altogether, Stoked has 2 drawbacks, but you have to play the game to know the game that is Stoked.
The score I have gave it is 9.0
Even though I have gave it this, I would recommend renting it, as one of my friends bought it after I told her about it, and she just did not enjoy it like I did!

So, rent it, love it, buy it!
