I am thoroughly discusted with the reviews that GS has been giving games. I'm not the most avid player but have been playing for a long time. My library is vast (without prior review) and are all decent games, some I could do with and some I could do without, but I pay my $50. bucks and call it a day. Now I may be lucky enough to do that and am proud to say I that when purchasing a game that I am helping not only the industry but programmers in general. I see some of the reviews critics give games but remain neutral until I play the game either from renting or buying outright. But my point is, a game is what it is, a game, a puzzle if you will. How you rate the game is one thing, but the critics will have you belive that a game(every) should outdo the next one. And when that doesn't happen us gamers are scratching our heads saying "the criics gave this game a great review, what happened" or " this games sucks", what happened was our expectations. Case in point: Steel Battalion: LoC. and the first SB. Now a 7.3 may sound good but this game should have come in to the 8.5 or above rating. I'm not being biased, honestly. This game has what game don't have. Excitment. You want real, drive this tank, go through a mission and fail. Bang you lose your save, no matter how far you are in the game. It sounds cheezy but look at games like Metal Gear, Voodoo Vince, OddWorld. What do they have in common, they all allow you to save and go on and if you get killed you can go back to where you were, why? Because these games are not "real life experiences". In my old age and playing video games (since the first Pong and Breakout games that had rotating paddles for controlers have come out, with no memory to speak of) have us gamers been looking for a "true to life" game experience. SB and SB: LoC are "true to life" games that I repect. They may not have the best visuals(according to critics) or the camera is a bit unflattering or that the game will only be for certin select gamers. But to give this game a 7.3 is a shame. I have people that have never played video game clammering to play this game, why? Because of the visuals, the controller, the gameplay. Their shocked that a stupid video game can be soo emersive and soo expencive. I'm shocked that the rating score was soo low (7.3 is still a solid rating) but with this game and numerous others I have noticed that GS has given games (Voodoo Vince) good ratings(just because its alittle funny) and giving games like SB poor rating. Capcom has plenty of money to throw around but it seems they are not giving GS or others the money to display a good review. I lost out on my first time SB came out and have recently purchased SB and SB: LoC the second release. What a purchase! I have fallen for this game because of the "realism" not becuase of the camera, not because of a 7.3 rating, but because games can get better and waiting with this type of game has me all giddy like a child have birthday cake. It may not be the best game from your stand point but not all games are "gems" but when you find one it can make your day and then some. For those that saw the 7.3 and said it is not worth your time should reconcider. I have this game becuase the future of gaming is going to be an incredible experience that I would rather not miss out on. Please pick this game up along with Line of Contact and we will see eachother online. GS please keep doing what you are doing. Making me choose between games that you rate is keeping me up on my toes. Thanks for reading my BS and thank you GS. I really do love the site, just a little disappointed at some reviews that are given for games.
