A throw back to zelda's style, StarTropics takes action adventure to a whole new level with a fun story!

Released back in 1991 (I was 5), StarTropics follows Mike on an epic adventure to save his Uncle from mysterious abductors. The over world and dungeon exploring is much like the Legend of Zelda, but the dungeons are zoomed in compared to zelda, giving Mike more detail (the enemies too!). I played this game again and again because the action is tight and the story is very involved. The difficulty is flat until the last level of the game and it suddenly becomes much more challenging, dissuading some beginners. But most fans of zelda will love this game. level design keeps most players happy, as the adventure takes mike to different islands with different troubles. My favorite puzzle involves learning clues and playing the right notes on a giant organ to access a dungeon. The music is fantastic! the tunes could have been written by Koji Kondo himself (I have two on my ipod). the games graphics look identical to Zelda in the overworld, but that is only 30% of the game. Dungeon crawling zooms in and there is far more detail.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for about 8 hours of dungeon exploring and memorable characters.
