The true goal of any game is to innovate the genre. This game does that and more with a great story and great gameplay. There are 3 playable races in the game, each has their own unique play style along with unique buildings, units, and upgrades. Everything about each race is different from the others all the way down to the workers. Combining unique gameplay, unique races, and exquisitely balanced play Starcraft is a game for the ages. The Protoss are the supremely technological race, with advanced weaponry and shields. Their workers can 'warp in' buildings and do not need a worker to maintain the process of building the building, freeing up the worker to warp in other buildings or gather critical resources. The buildings themselves must be built within the power field of a Pylon. The units are created on a tier base, with each requiring another building to make the unit or certain other buildings available. The Zerg are an insect like race, the buildings must be built on an organic surface called Creep, which is created by their main hatchery, or resource gathering building, or creep colonies. The workers themselves morph into the individual buildings, and do not come back, a player must decide whether they need the building, or the economic advantage of the worker. The units are all created via the hatchery, and morph from Larvae that constantly regenerate at the Hatchery. The Terrans are humans that were originally convicts sent into deep space. Their buildings do not require energy or a certain surface other than flat to be built. Most Terran buildings can lift off and relocate themselves, this allows them to be very versatile, and able to react to any situation. Their workers are required to stay and build a building completely before doing anything else, but the worker can be reused unlike the Zerg. Starcraft is finely crafted, and even with the large variations in unit composition, upgrades, perks, and limitations it is perfectly balanced. It is an instant classic, and will never be forgotten.
