Mixed with good graphic, good story, bad gameplay and high hardware demand

User Rating: 5.5 | Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition PC
First of all, my previous "Star Wars" title I own is "Jedi Outcast" and "Jedi Academy" . I played "Battlefront" briefly and ko my friend's "Republic Commando". Before I buy this game i had expected some problem occurred as no company in mu country (HK) willing to import this game as the alleged high hardware demand. But i deal with new problem but not related to hardware.

First of all, the story. LucasArts wrote good story all the time. Jedi Outcast had a good story and "Jedi Academy" isn't a real standalone game so does not count. Again, You are a young Jedi apprentice and you had to choose between dark and "bright" side of the force (actually you can only choose the side at the end). But actually it is short with 9+1 level only.

Graphic and hardware. I don't counter any problem with the hardware. It is because i buy it in 2009 for US$500 (not include monitor, Pentium E6300 + ATI 4770). But it consumed more than 20GB HDD, and nearly 8GB were Bink Video. Moreover, there is no graphic option such as AA on. Lastly, i don't is my PC overheat or not, there is some graphic issue on some levels. Some walls were not sealed very well and some time there is a lag the loading screen mask appeared (that mean you see your player character freeze) To sum up there is some minor issue on the modern configuration. Enjoy the 8GB of cinematic

Gameplay. I hated this game system ( i like DeadSpace 2 and Batman: AA. one) Why not this game is so crappy?
The most annoying part is the game require trick jump most of the game. You fail, you may need to start all over from the check point. In modern game design, easy mode should be so easy, just like a self controlled movie. However in this game you need to memorize each combo (which hard to press in PC) in order to pass the boss and the deadly jump. LucasArts should leave the trick jump in the secrets (which it does) and leave no or little tick jump in the main storyline. Compared to Batman, at least you can figure out how to kill the mob but in this game in easy mode, i use most is lightning. If you really want to hurt your finger you can play the game in extreme mode (but no rewards, compared to challenge mode in Batman). This game feature some force skills, but not all the same in Jedi Outcast. And for the force grab, it is so hard to aim in PC with a mouse. Instead i would like the simple system in DeadSpace (which you walk to move maze object but simply grab and shoot to the aim )

I know it is a ported game, so it can't be expected a mutliplayer for the PC version. It is annoying also with the view angle, i would rather like a "fix" view angle (Jedi Outcast one) rather than this one (despite just the same with Batman and DeadSpace2). It is annoying that in boss fight the view angle suddenly became "2D" like.

Lastly for the gameplay. I just take 8hr to ko the main game and extra 16 hours for all the secrets and extra levels. Moreover lots of time on annoying trick jump (i watched the youtube and finally know i need to use a combo to jump most faraway, after 30 tries) and i tuck on the second last level because of wrong on screen instruction (it should rotate the ship to 0-0-0 position (actually just X-Y, no height/tilt) but when i get the horizontal right and trying to bring the nose upwards, the on-screen instruction tell me go down! Horrible porting. Yet another porting problem is key mapping. In the force upgrade screen, the icon of left arrow actually a backspace! "Enter" also using the universal icon, i think the original idea is good, but what language level you expect when where is no subtitle? I can hear but i cant read the word and press BackSpace?!

The sound system of this game also below standard. It can't matched with the progress and the sound designer should be fired.

Bonus content was the recycle of LucasArts IP. The skin and the elements in the DLC (Hoth, Tatooine) may from "Battlefront" game. But it is bonus content, it should not be rated. Facial expression made the main game more breakthrough than using the old model.

Because i love Jedi Outcast so much and the combo fighting system in Batman, i can only give 5 out of 10 marks. At least two points deducted for not much replay value, 1 mark for short gameplay. 1 mark for game system and 1 mark for lack of graphic option.
