User Rating: 7.5 | Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II GC
I was born and raised loving Star Wars. Saw the first three movies countless times with my dad in the theaters. But sadly there haven't been many great games based on SW. Luckily I finally decided to pick up a GameCube a few weeks back, and RSII was one of the first two games I bought.
RSII is a SW game thru and thru, musical score, voice acting, ships, you name it, it feels like SW. The missions are well varied for a "flying sim", and each ship has it's own unique feel and weapons. The missions are tough, there's no other way to put it. I usually play God Of War/Ninja Gaiden/MGS type games, so flying a space ship is a bit harder for me, but I think even a experienced flying/racing gamer would find the missions to be taxing. Which is a good thing in this day and age of instant saves, or short checkpoints. When I finish a mission, I feel a sense of accomplishment. Graphics are great for this generation, I really don't feel like I'm missing anything leaving the PS3 and COD MW2 and heading out in my home office to play RSII. All in all, if your a SW fan this is a must have. If you never owned a GC (because the XBox or PS2, in my case, kept you loaded with AAA titles, or whatever the reason), you should be able to grab one fairly cheap, and there are plenty of SW and other great games waiting out there for you. RSII is a great start, and check out GS's GC section to see how many great games you (I) may have missed out on.
