About as good as console pod racing can get.
The focus of the game is to race your way through several tracks unlocking more characters and tracks as you go. The game has a good few characters and a good amount of tracks so if u like this game it will last you a good while.
Graphicly the game looks good, nothing spectacular but its certainly nothing horrible which will melt your eyes. the track environments and design are all good, that is if u can notice them as you zoom by at high speeds. pod racers look good, again not spectacular but solid. The camera also does a good job of sticking to your veicle. In all graphics are worth a solid 8/10.
Sound: Whats that did some one say sound? Sound is sometimes lacking from this game. The music during races is atmospheric, but only kicks in as you jostle for position with other racing, other than that your left to the sound of your pod racer. Occasionally the racing commentators will make an announcement but not very frequently (only when theres a crash or they're introducing a circuit). Sound is a dissapointment, especially considering its a star wars title, imagine a star wars movie with no music? It wouldnt be half as good. Sound scores a dissapionting 4/10 (some could say thats being generous)
Gameplaywise this game is very good, and thats a relief because whats a game without good gameplay? Races are fast paced and often frantic battles. The races really capture the pod racing feel. Unfortunatly the game does get easy after a while. I guess this could be fair enough as som may see this as a `kiddie' title. But nonetheless gameplay is still fun. Indeed some levels are challenging throughout the game. While the game hardly does anything new gameplay wise (other than your in a pod racer) it does do its job very well. As a result it scores an 8/10.
Value: If your into this sort of game, you love th gameplay and you can get ovver the poor sound as well as the games reptative nature after a while this game will last you a while. For me it only gets a 7 as after a while i felt th game got a bit tedious, a bit repetative. However if your a star wars fan or love this games gameplay (more than the 8 i gave it) then this racer will last you a while. But for me only a 7.
So in all a good game, this could have been a cheap cash in on the star wars seris, instead its a good game, if you can get over its lack of sound and sometimes repetative nature you'l find yourself with a pretty good game, worth a solid 7.5/10
