A New Twist On An Old Idea

User Rating: 8.2 | Star Wars: Battlefront II PS2
When somebody got the idea for a game based off command posts, it was a great idea. How great? You can capture spawn points and control where you start! You can pick your character class to determine what weapons you will carry! At the time, the makers of the Battlefield series were making a killing in sales. Battlefield 1942 was a WWII version of the game concept. Battlefield Vietnam played off the same concept, only in Vietnam, of course. Then someone had the idea: A Star Wars version of Battlefield? Didnt seem like much at first, but when the advertising started, Star Wars fans went wild. It captured the attention of both Battlefield fans and Star Wars fans. The first Battlefront was a hit the day it hit the shelves. Then came Battlefront II: The souped-up, new Battlefront. Battlefront II had everything, well, almost everything that the first one didnt. One of the biggest attractions was the edition of the Jedi class. This excited everyone. People were so annoyed in the first one by the heroes who always annihilated them. I cant think of anyone who has encountered the Jedi who didnt say "Man, I wish I could be the Jedi." Well, the makers of Battlefront II decided to add that little feature. And what a good idea it was. Many players of the game were very dissapointed by the fact that the fighters were eliminated on land maps. Also, the edition of space mode was quite a hit. It was everyones dream to fly in space in Battlefront, and it became a reality in the second one. One of the major problems with this game is that the fact that it is Star Wars based is a turn off for a lot of people. A lot of people immediately assume the game is bad because it is Star Wars, but in reality it is a great game.
