What is wrong with a arcade top down view shoot em' up space ship style! This is a good game regardless of what big critics say. You can fly around shooting ships to oblivion and have fun at the same time. The federation ships are a bit favoured in shields and fire power but to hell with it! The campaign can be a bit boring but the skirmish gives it replay value and gives you a quick fight. The scenery has a certain wow to it which looks stunning and is full of detail. The sound quality is excellent for a budget title to the phaser effects and the explosions. The game play is good and keeps you glued to the screen which won't make you leave it. So if you like star trek and space ship style shooting you will feel right at home with ST-Encounters.
