This little gem shines bright on the psp!

This is the first game in the Star Ocean series and was never before released in the U.S. This remake of the orignal Star Ocean offers improved graphics, anime style cut scenes and full voice acting, and thankfully, all of which are done supprising well. While the cut scenes are not on par with FF Crisis Core, the anime style meshes well with the ingame graphics and art style and the voice acting is actually pretty good for a j-rpg. In all, despite its age (orignally released in 1996) this is a quality title and exactly what the psp needs in its library.
In fairness it does have a retro feel. This might turn some off. If you dont like rpg's nothings going to change your mind here. But if you are a fan of rpg's (especially j-rpgs) there is alot to love about this title. Its retro, but it also has a retro charm and likeable story.
The game offers alot of freedom and customizing of charcters skills and even some branch paths for the story you must decide which to take. There are also alternate endings depending on what charcters you chose and what actions you took thru the game. The way skills are handled is excelllent and there is alot of replayability. The bottom line is this is a FUN game. If you like RPG's, buy it, you wont regret it. Its a solid engaging adventure with likeable charcters and a charming storyline. If you do NOT like RPG's, GUESS WHAT?!? you'll hate it!
