Battle your foes on foot, by Arwing or Landmaster

User Rating: 8 | Star Fox: Assault GC
Unlike Adventures, Assault thankfully takes the series back to it's roots. For the most part, Namco has done a great job in trying to create the type of Star Fox game we remember from the SNES/N64 days. There are flying missions, on foot missions, and ones where the Landmaster is needed. Unfortunately, the tank and on foot controls are a bit clunky, using the dual stick layout helps, because then you are able to control and shoot with Fox like you would with pretty much any of the other big shooter games.

Gameplay 8- The story mode is good, but feels lacking due to shortness. Flying the Arwing is as fun as ever, and while on foot battles make sense in a war scenario, Fox's home is in a ship cockpit.
Graphics 8- Good Fox Team models, bland textures on the enemies, and outstanding design for the flying mission backdrops of stars, galaxies, and planets.
Sound 7- Typical sounds you would expect when blowing up robots. The voice acting is better than expected.
Replay Value 8- Unless decorating yourself with all the medals from the story missions is important, the story wont hold much lasting value. However unlike the previous Star Fox game, an up-to-fourplayer multiplayer game awaits. Where you and friends can battle it out over land and outer space as Fox Team members. And a couple hidden characters are available too!
Fun Factor 9- Single player is fun a couple times through, but most of the fun will be multiplayer.

My Final Score- 8.0
