The courses are too similar to each other. SSX Tricky had 10 or so courses that were all quite different in both layout and challenge. But in SSX3, some courses are more twisty than others, and a few have a pipe or two, but that's about it for difference. The SSX Tricky courses had vertical "levels" of different rails and tunnels and many multiple paths that were really different in one track. Is SSX3, the courses are wide and open and "realistic," but not very vertical at all. The Gamespot review doesn't really address this issue. The only other significant issue is that some of the polygons are pretty large and blocky. Look at the boulders that fall down -- they aren't even textured to look like boulders. There are plenty of additional characters to unlock and the tricks are fun to pull off. The interface is mildly annoying because important information is buried across several screens. Downhill Domination on the PS2 was easily as good as this game.
