Oh, how I used to love this game!

User Rating: 10 | Spyro the Dragon PS
Spyro was probably the first game I ever played (although it might have been Rampage:Universal Tour), and is still one of my all-time favorites. While Spyro isn't a hard game, it's still nice to say that I won the before the age of five. It may be easy, but you give this game to any other two-year-old and see if they can beat it! This is one of those old games where they just managed to find the perfect balance of simplicity and fun. I definitely count this game among the great legends like Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper. The mechanics of this game aren't too much differrent from any other platformer of the time, but it's the little touches in the world design, the way your fire breath chars the flowers, and the open-world hub that make this game stand out. But don't get me wrong. As a whole also, this game is just more fun than even most moddern games. I think it's nice every once in a while to play one of those old kid-friendly Play Station or Game Boy Advance games as opposed to the prevalent first-person shooters bloody action games we're all used to now. While you may only have two attacks, it's the simplicity that makes this game fun. I put this game right up there with Jak and Daxter on my list of most treasured childhood memories, and if you read my review of that game, you'll realize how much that means.
