User Rating: 8.5 | Spyro the Dragon PS
This game was one of those must have game titles for the PS1.......The story begins when some dragons been talking bad about Evil nasty gnork, who later was angered by all this casted a curse upon them which turns them all into stone or crystal, you (Spyro) is the only dragon who survived the curse and has to save them all. In the game there are diffrent worlds with diffrent levels in each, you have to go to each world and level saving every dragon. Every level is awsome offering diffrent enviroments, enemies and so on. Spyro has many attacks too choose from, breathing fire on them to tackling them, also you can glide which helps you at time get over to a long distance, you have to use each depnding on the enemy to be more effective. There are savepoints in many parts like when you enter a world or a level or there is a little fairy which is a checkpoint and savepoint. Spyro life is determined by his freind firefly which flys around you all the time called Sparks, The firefly changes color depending on your life, meaning if Sparks is gold means you can take 3 hits, green means 2 hits, blue 1 hit and after that Sparks is gone meaning you cant take one more hit or your gone, To heal sparks back you have to kill a foe which doesent attack back usually sheep, once killed they let some sort of mosquito out which sparks eats healing him by one, sparks also helps you coolect ores from a distance too instead of having to walk through them unless hes dead. Throughtout the game there ores of diffrent colors which you can collect, all with diffrent values, once collected you cant get it again meaning that at the end of the game all the ores you have collected sum up to a number opening a secret door in the last world. Also you can collect some eggs that are carried by the most annoying creatures on earth...some sorts of mummies that run super fast and jump too also they yell nananana! Which they mock you becuase you might spend quite a while chasing them. Also when you beat a level or so soemtimes there are minigames such as flying throught some circles or flying against oter enemies having to destroy them whith fireballs. The graphics were some of the best for its time, and the music was top notch with amazing diffrent songs per world and level that really made the game shine. This game really offered something unique for the time and it still does.
