A wannabe James Bond game, that unfortunately doesn't play or look as good as a James Bond game should.

Remember the oil slick, smoke screen, machine guns, wheel (tire) drills, etc. from Goldfinger? It's all back. It even has a car to boat to motorbike to water scooter translation. Too bad the 1963 classic had the same things (1963 compared to 2000's!) that were much, much better. The controls in Spy Hunter are either really shaky at a low resolution or too tight at a high. At any rate the game has to be played at a high resolution because the low -- well the low looks like crap.

The boat would be more fun, if it didn't go left or right on its own accord. This may be realistic, but the game prides itself on being an unrealistic arcade game.

It's strongest part is the music with the original SpyHunter theme. Written by Mancini, it is by far the best part of the game.

The game isn't all that bad and sometimes is even fun, but serious bugs make even the 80's arcade game better. So, in a nutshell, if you're prepared to play a run-and-gun driving game with so-so graphics and many nasty little problems, this game is for you. And if you're not, I suggest you get the PS2 version instead (being a PC fan myself).
