Very entertaining, beautifully made, and unusually generous with free players

Spiral knights is a game that I never thought would be this good. It's set up in a very interesting artificial world whose characteristics blend perfectly with the game features. The spiral knights (players), are newcomers to this world and are so far limited to a small section of the surface. Because of this, they need to explore its depths in to improve the toehold they have on it.

There are two main resources in spiral knights: crowns, which are the game's form of currency, and energy which is needed to activate the elevators and doors which allow the player to explore the world, as well as crafting all kinds of gear. While crowns are dropped by defeated enemies, energy can only gained by the pass of time (called mist energy and limited to 100 per account), purchased from other players using crowns (in the form of energy crystals), or purchased using real money.

Access to energy is the main difference between paying and free customers, but thanks to the inclusion of an energy market in the game's currency, free players can enjoy all the features the game has to offer though more slowly than paying customers.

So far I have been playing the game for free, and I'm having a blast. I also appreciate that the game is so friendly towards free customers (specially those who are too busy and cannot spend more than a couple of hours playing every day). Most likely I will start spending real money as I go further down the game, but for the moment I'm perfectly fine with the free version. This is a game I would definitely recommend you give it a go
