After 9 years, Spider-Man: The Movie is still amazing.

Spider-Man: The Movie is a video game that I can recommend for PlayStation 2 owners. The graphics are good for its time, and the level design is great. The gameplay is alright, although it's a slight rehash from previous Spider-Man games by Activision. First, I'll talk about the things I dislike about this game. There aren't a lot of things I dislike about this game though.

The first thing that might bug people a little is the fact that Spidey's web-shooters are empty too quickly. There are often enough web power-ups scattered around, but it can still become quite irritating when you're really in need of your webbing but you've used it all up. I personally liked it better back in the day when you could carry several cartridges for your web-shooters. But this is a personal opinion and it could differ from yours. Secondly, the training levels (except for basic training, pinhead bowling and combat training) are horrible, and not fun to go through. It's a good thing that they're optional and the player is not forced to go through these levels to finish the game. Lastly, some voices are a bit muffled and it might not always be clear what the characters are saying. But this is not that big of a problem if you play the same section more than once.

Here are the things do like about this game...

This game has a great soundtrack, similar to the great score from the blockbuster movie. Especially the rock track you hear in the ending credits is outstanding. You earn points at the end of every level and the amount of points you receive depends on how you did in that level. With those points you can unlock content in the Specials sections in the main menu, and there is a lot to unlock in this game, such as extra movies and artwork. One of my personal favourite content to unlock is 'Pinhead bowling', where you, and maybe a friend knock over thugs by cannonballing them. This is good, guilty fun for anyone who doesn't mind wasting their time on something pointless. During this activity, you occasionally hear Bruce Campbell say something humorous over the intercom. Speaking of Bruce Campbell, you can't help but enjoy everything he says. His explanation about what happened to him on the farm he was raised on as a kid was hilarious.

pro's:
soundtrack is great
the extra movie with Shocker is badass
pinhead bowling is awesome
Bruce Campbell's commentary is always hilarious to listen to

cons:
web-shooters are too small, and empty too quick
most training levels are annoying
voices aren't always clear to understand
