A definite challenge, and great gameplay. If multiplayer was included, would have been the best Marvel game of all time.

This game has classic written all over it. With fun stuff like the story being told through comic book scenes, and a big Batman BIFF popping up after you smack a thug, this game is just great. The gameplay is very simple, but fun. You can punch baddies, web 'em up, throw em, and even create a web shield around yourself. It's different from most sidescrollers, as you must beat all of the bad guys before continuing. So no wussing out! The game is very hard though, and takes along time to beat. (Truth be told I still haven't beaten the last boss)
The graphics are very good. They have a great comic book style. The sound is a bit lame, with cheesy grunts everytime you hit guys, and even worse sound effects for things like lightning bolts. But it won't stop the enjoyment. The replay value would have been through the roof if they only made the game co-op. It would have just been amazing, and you can totally just imagine a game like Maximum Carnage being built for two players. But alas, it's single player or nothing. Though the single player is great, and you don't even have to stick with Spider-Man the whole game. You'll see lots of your favorite heroes popping in and out of Maximum Carnage, and it's a blast, even though some aren't as famaliar as others. Overall this game will always be the tride and true Comic book game experience, for it still hasn't been topped today.
