Who doesn't want to be Spider-Man?

There a lot of video games based off of superheros out there. But, some superheroes (like Superman) haven't been treated very well. Spider-Man isn't one of them. Based off the great movie of the same name, Spider-Man 2 has you swinging through New York wiping up crime.

The game pretty much follows the plot of the movie. There are some additional boss fights and characters added in to make it longer, but you know how it goes. Spider-Man 2, released in 2004 and directed by Sam Raimi, follows Peter Parker as he struggles to manage both his life and his career as Spider-Man. All the while, he is dealing with the evil Doc Ock.

The game plays out kind of like Grand Theft Auto as you are going around the 'humongous' city of New York, stopping bad guys and doing jobs like delivering pizzas and getting pictures for the Daily Bugle. All this is okay for a bit, but after you've played the game for the bit, it gets kind of boring. It's generally the same thing, stop a car hijacking, stop a group of crooks holding up an armored car, stop someone from falling, etc... It's not bad, but it would've helped if they had added a bit more variety.

The controls are really smooth and are not totally confusing. I haven't really learned how to hang someone from a lightpole or something like that, but all you really need is your uppercut and you're fine.

One thing that helps this game out is the fact that Tobey Maguire, Alfred Molina, and Kirsten Dunst all reprise their roles from the movie. I'm not sure if James Franco also worked on this game as well, but that's fine if he didn't. As stated, it follows the movie plus adds a couple of characters and boss fights as well.

This is a pretty good game. I know that movie games usually stink, but there are some of them that are good. This is one of them.
