It's fun but it really doesnt beat the old Megadrive games.

Soviet Strike is sort of a remake of the old Megadrive 'Strike games. Desert Strike was great, Jungle Strike was great, Urban Strike was great. So that means Soviet Strike is great doesnt it? Well yes and no. There's just one big problem.

The problem is that stops this from being a PS1 classic is that there are so many enemies at once so you really die an awful lot...and you only get 3 lives. The game is incredibly hard and you'll be get frustrated often. Just completeing the first mission will take you loads of attempts. The levels are big and long, just like before but really, they are seriously difficult.

If the game wasnt so hard or if you got more lives this game would be a lot better. OK, so thats the bad part over. Soviet Strike does have it's good points. What makes the game like a remake? Well, the graphics are now fully 3D which is a cool thing and the same classic gameplay is there. You go around the map doing your objectives while the blowing the crap out of everything on the way (or blowing the crap out of everything at the objective). Yeah, the game is great fun, there's total carnage everywhere, explosions, gunfire, tanks firing etc. You can blow up pretty much everything. So the game has plenty of action. Another nice new adition are the videos before the missions and even during missions...they feature real actors and props etc, kinda like the Command & Conquer games.

Overall, this game couldve been really great if it wasnt so hard. Still, if you do want a challenge or are a fan of the old 'Strike games then I highly recommend this. Or if you just like to blow everything up then I also recommend it because it is still good fun to play.

Pros:
+Lots of destructable scenery
+Good videos

Cons:
-Extremely difficult
-Not enough lives to complete most levels
-Doesnt capture the spirit of the old Megadrive 'Strike games
