Within the long dialogue and story, is a solid adventure game for the PS2.

User Rating: 9 | Soul Reaver 2 PS2
After playing through SR2 and Blood Omen II (which was quite painful), its clear that Soul Reaver still remains the better of the two in the LoK series. Soul Reaver is by no means the greatest looking, or the greatest playing. But its story-driven gameplay and intriguing dialogue is more than enough to have you killing hours at a time. So to speak, the game is quite long, you'll be solving puzzles, lots of them, acquiring different reavers, switching back and forth between realms and fighting lots of enemies. While the combat engine is not revolutionary like DMC3 or Ninja Gaiden, its solid. And in a long game, you can't ask for more than a solid fighting engine.... or else you end up with something like Blood Omen 2. The Reaver is a strong weapon, but it will slowly deplete your health if you keep using it. Speaking of health, your health is constantly deteriorating as you progress through the game. That deterioration is stopped when you defeat opponents and absorb their souls. Absorbing souls during combat can sometimes be a pain, especially since some enemies like to "interrupt" while trying to absorb. The controls are generally okay, with just a few camera problems. The graphics are pretty good for a 2001 game, it runs fairly smooth in all areas, and the lighting and textures are pretty good for a game of such age. The audio is quite well too, the dialogue sounds like it was recorded, written, and staged in a professional manner. The soundtrack isn't a slouch either, which also sounds pretty good. Overall, if you're looking to spend some quality hours killing time (not sure if that sounds right...) then SR2 is worth the pick-up.
