A solid Sonic game even though it's a little on the short side

Multiplayer.

Bad Points:

Slow down.
Nothing really new/rehashed levels.

Well what can you say it's Sonic, i've always loved the 2D sonic games and in my opinion the 3D games just don't cut it.

The graphics in the game are a little better than in the Game Gear games. They seem to be sharper/cleaner and more colourful than the Game Gear games.

Music has always played it's part in Sonic games and Pocket Adventures has some decent music. However a lot of the music is borrowed from other Sonic games and then cut down to fit the sound capabilities of the Neo Geo Colour Pocket. You can be recognise most of the music in a few seconds which is a testament to the musicians and the sound capabilities of the system.

There are a few new gameplay modes in the game, one is multiplayer racing via the link cable (if you can find someone who has a Neo Geo) ;). One other modes include the classic time trial seen in Sonic 3, an advanced time trial were you have to get 50 rings or more before going to the end of the level and a puzzle mode. The puzzle mode pieces are collected in the game so you have to explore the levels to be able to complete the puzzles, built in replay value.

When playing some parts of certain zones when there's a lot of stuff going on there is often slow down. This lag can sometimes cost you your rings or a life, I suppose this to be expected when you try to take levels from Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 and put them on a hand held.

My biggest problem with the game is that the levels are rehashed from Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 there's nothing really new here except the boss battles. I would have liked to have seen at least a few new zones.

Overall it's a solid Sonic game that Sonic fans will enjoy even if the game is a little bit short.
