Released in 1992 on the Sega Genesis Sonic 2 wowed gamers with its amazing 16 bit color graphics, the game looked beautiful and improved on the original whilst toning down the difficulty but this is the better game and the best in the series for me.

Sonic 2 introduced some of the best levels ever seen in a 2d plat former, from Casino Night to Mystic Cave truly classic level design. If you manager to collect all the emeralds you do transform into "Super Sonic" but this is rather difficult to do as you must collect enough rings in the bonus rounds.

The second player gets a chance to play as tails but its completely pointless you might as well just watch your friend playing it, however there is a Multiplayer mode which is fun in where you must race your opponent to the end of the course, you only get a choice of 4 stages however.

Boss Battles are entertaining if a little too easy however the final boss with Egg man is very hard and you get no rings to fight with, Overall Sonic 2 is a nostalgia goodness and one game i will never forget, time to get out the old Genesis
