i didn't have fun playing this game at all.
okay peoplez. there's a little story mixed in with the review. if you don't want to hear the story, read a different review.
if i could type in my own classification for this game, it would be this: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AND I'M NOT KIDDING AROUND! really, i hated this game. i don't even own this game. my friend does!!! he let me play it because whenever he got a new game on his saturn, he would invite all his friends over to play it with him (if it's a multiplayer game) and i never got to play his saturn because he would always get games that i'm not interested in. the minute he let me play, i was crying, but i was happy cuz before i played sonic r, i always wanted to play a saturn. i put the game in, sat on the floor right in front of the tv, and i started racing right away.
you start off with sonic, tails, amy, and knuckles (and probably a few other people) as playable characters IN THE BEGINNING, then you start racing.
i thought it would be a car racing game, but you just run through the weirdly designed tracks. the tracks are not badly designed, they're just put together weird. and since this game has pretty bad graphics, it makes the tracks look even weirder.
in the tracks, they play these weird pop songs that are sang by these girls. it was a good thing that i bought my cd played to his house because the second the music played, it felt like my ears were bleeding. i put on my cd player and blasted my metallica cd really loud so i couldn't hear the music in the game. really, pop music sang by random girls that have terrible singing voices does not make me feel like playing a weird racing game. in fact, songs sang by girls with bad voices don't make me feel like playing any kind of game.
the controls are ok, if i remember right (it's been at least a decade since i played this game. and on top of that, i don't have very good memory).
it didn't take me that long to beat the game. it took maybe an hour and a half. or something close to that. and i bet your wondering why i was playing this game so long. it's because my friend realized that it was my first time playing the saturn, and i never played any game he got before he got sonic r, so he let me play for a little while. yes, the game was short, and nowhere near fun.
and when everyone saw that i beat it, they were all screaming out stuff like "oh my god! she beat the game!". i let my friend's friends play after i beat it and they unlocked all the characters within around 45 minutes. the other characters are dr robotnick (or eggman), a robot version of sonic and a few other characters, and the tails doll. the unlockable characters are pretty corny, if you ask me.
i didn't like the game at all, but i was happy that i finally played a saturn. and remember how i mentioned that it felt like my ears were bleeding when i heard the weird music? well, when i went home, my older brother looked at me and said "holy crap! your ears are bleeding!". i looked in the mirror, and they were! so one side effect of playing sonic r is random bleeding through your ears!
so, if you never played a saturn before (or if you did), and you do not want your ears to bleed when you hear the music, then stay away from sonic r. stay away from it as far as you possibly can!
so don't buy it or download any roms of this game. just don't play it so you can keep your ear canals blood free. i'm pretty sure my friend got rid of sonic r by now. i hope he did... PLEASE RATE!!!!!!
