Sonic Heroes is a classic adventure that sonic fans will definately enjoy. However, it loses it's magic quick.

Sonic Heroes is a game that gives you the same old sonic formula, but in 3D. Like most of the Sonic games released on the Gamecube, they are fun, but never reach their full potential. While the same "run, collect, and bash" gameplay is still intact, it never feels refreshing or "new". It's the same old, same old.

Despite this, Sonic Heroes manages to pull off a few tricks that change the dynamic of the game. First off, you play as teams, and not solely one character. There are four teams with various characters from the sonic universe. Within each team, there are three character types. One speed type, one flying type, and one power type. An example of this would be team sonic which includes Sonic as the speed type, Tails as the flying type, and Knuckles as the power type. All of the types work well and have combined moves to create an even more exciting experience.

What dumbs down the gameplay is the many unresponsive control glitches. These glitches are extremely note-worthy, especially with how fast this sonic game is. It can be very annoying to fall off a cliff and lose all of your progress just because the controls are unresponsive. In addition, Sonic Heroes is a very easy game with almost no challenge. Because of the easiness, it becomes all the more irritating to die on a mission solely because of a glitch.

Overall, Sonic Heroes is a simple yet fun game with a variety of game modes (includes the excellent boss battles mode) and environments to explore. What brings this game down is glitches and the apparent easiness. If you're looking for a challenge, this is not recommended. However, if you're looking for some sonic action, Sonic Heroes is worth a try. Just remember, there's nothing too new here.
