It seems so odd that the best place for Sega's Sonic, when it comes to games, is ironically, on a console developed by Sega's former console rival! And while Sonic has had his fair share of hits and misses in the 3-D realm, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE for Sonic to go wrong with a 2-D game! This game is no exception. While this game gleams a LOT of inspiration from Sonic's Sega Genesis days, this actually works to this game's advantage. The Wisp power-up idea is the best that Sega has come up with for Sonic in years! Being able to speed up to super SONIC speeds; turn into a fiery, red burst of flame; turning into a rocket, turning into a yellow drill, turning into a cyan laser, and even turning into a violet void, these abilities will help Sonic discover the hidden secrets of Eggman's latest venture, a theme park that is ACTUALLY a sinister plot to harness energy from the five planets of the Wisp's worlds in order to control the minds of innocent civilians on Earth! Naturally, Sonic isn't about to let THAT happen! The graphics (especially the in-game movies) are among some of the BEST available for a Nintendo DS game, the music and sound effects are great, the control is great, and the game-play is absolutely superb in this Sonic game! If you want to play a modern day Sonic game, I definitely recommend playing this one, because it rocks! I thoroughly enjoyed playing and beating this game. Enough said, true believers!
