Is this free PC game worth your time?

User Rating: 6.5 | Solitaire (1990) PC
You've probably heard about Solitaire if you're reading this. Why, you ask? Because every Microsoft computer has the game in it. But if you haven't heard about it, I'll explain it briefly
.
Solitaire is a cards game released in 1990 with every computer that had windows. The game consists of a deck of cards you have to pile up in order, for example, the A goes first, then the 2, etc. But it isn't as easy as it sounds.
You have four spots where you can put A's and following cards on the upper part of the screen, and on the lower part of the screen, you've some piles of cards. In those piles of cards, you have to put descendent cards, for example, if there's a 3 on the pile you have to put a 2, but the 2 has to be a different color than the 3, and there are only 2 colors, red and black, however red cards can be diamonds and hearts while black cards can be spades and clubs.

In the upper part, as I said, you've to rack up cards, but in ascendent order, and they have to be the same suit (for example, hearts and hearts). Once you do that you win the game.

If you get stuck with only the cards you have, you can always use some reserve cards that you can stack up too.

There are three game modes, a mode where you try to get the best time and a good amount of points, a mode where you only try to get the best time, and a mode called Las Vegas mode in which you get some virtual money instead of points. In escence though, the 3 modes are exactly the same.

Graphics: The graphics in the game are just some bland image of cards with a wallpaper, and there is little animation when you start the game as if someone stacked the cards. For it's time and for a free game, they make their job, but that said, they aren't good:
6/10

Gameplay: The gameplay is really easy to understand, even for newcomers to games, and it is really simple to pick up the game anytime you want. And besides, this is a really addictive game:
8/10

Sound: There isn't much sound, just when the cards are passed, and when you stack cards. Some music would have been appreciated, but the game doesn't need it that much:
5/10

Story: The game totally lacks a story which (again) it doesn't need, but it could've been made, and the developers were a little on the lazy side:
1/10

Concept: When this game was made, this was an original concept for a game, since very few games were about cards, but the concept is maybe too simplistic:
7/10

Replay Value: There is some replay value if you like beating scores, or simply if you have nothing to do, this game is always an option:
7/10

Difficulty: This game is kind of difficult, since it's hard to win. Even when I use a strategy, I sometimes lose, and I can't help thinking a little of the game is based in luck, but that doesn't mean it isn't hard:
9/10

Fun: This game is really fun, everyone can play it, and it's easy to understand but hard to master. It is also really addictive:
8/10

Conclusion: If you have a Windows and you haven't tried this, you should, since it is a really simple, but fun and addictive game.
