This is great game. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Innovation, shminvoation.

I've played all the games in the series for the PSP & the PS2. This is by far the best in the series (for the PSP). Great graphics, good variety of environments, wide weapon selection and customization of load out. The game is addictive you just want to keep playing to unlock more weapons and characters. The game difficulty ramps-up nicely no matter what difficulty you choose (ensign to admiral). The game makes you feel that you've accomplished something worthwhile without kicking your teeth in and snapping your spine. Checkpoints are available so if you are incapacitated in the game you don't need to start the stage from the beginning (but I think this affects your overall accuracy rating which in turn may affect an unlockable.
It's true that the multi-player mode truly keeps you interested. Definitely an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
This game is going to be a permanent fixture in my PSP bag.
