Is this a joke, zipper - you guys got a SOCOM game coming out soon? Here's one for you, CoD fans.

User Rating: 4.5 | SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs PS3
Well, where to even begin. Socom 4 falls back into the hands of a lazy developer. This is in NO way a Socom game. Everybody was expecting this to be a step forward, and it may be for sales - as it's horribly easy gameplay appeals to CoD players. Graphics are third rate, sounds are despicable. Overall, a complete step backwards from the hard work Slant Six put into Confrontation.

So there's a story mode...who cares? You beat the story mode in a short amount of time and then all you have left is multiplayer. Multiplayer does have some fun game modes that were not present in previous Socom games, but still it cannot make up for the lazy, sloppy presentation.

Graphics: don't really get much worse than this. Socom 4 has some of the worst, most pixeled graphics of any game released in the past few years. Character's hands are always floating through the guns and characters frequently pop through thin walls. The environments look pretty good, but then you realize the glob of pixels and choppy corners in the middle of the screen is your character. The graphics in Confrontation were, and still are, without match. So going from very incredible scenery and character models to the horrible character models of Socom 4 is, to say the least, disappointing. Looks like Call of Duty, another sup-par graphics game.

Sounds: just like call of duty, lazy developers pulled random gun sounds out of a database and threw them into the game. Slant Six recorded REAL gun sounds and integrated them into the game flawlessly. Incredible voice-overs and ambiance are replaced by corny actors who say stupid things. The game has lost any realism in it's attempt to bring more sales.

Gameplay: why oh why does it suck so bad? Plain and simple, recoil has been replaced by stationary cross hairs that merely get bigger as you shoot. Any real chance for this game is lost with this fatal error. That was what made the previous Socom games so good: shooting was difficult. Now, rather than please all of their diligent Socom-ers, Zipper has chosen to place sales numbers over satisfaction. Socom 4 appeals to two groups of people: morons who wont open their eyes and see it for what it is (zipper- fanbois, we'll call them), and those who love Call of Duty.

Overall, this game is a complete failure. Lazy developers always make sloppy games. True Socom enthusiasts are left with their mouths gaping as Zipper has released this disgraceful game under the Socom name. Call me when Slant Six is back on the Socom train.

and for pete's sake, use some of those profits CoD players give you for Socom 4 to fix the Confrontation servers for us real Socom lovers.
