User Rating: 5.4 | SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs (Greatest Hits) PS2
That's the rating I gave Socom 3. There was no real challenge offline. I had the best time with Socom 1 because the game randomly changed where the enemy's were spawned and/or to be positioned, which gave it the unpredictablity and fun I was looking for. The voice commands sucked, the player had to talk like a robot for the teammates to respond to the orders given. And the graphix is dumbed down compared to Socom 2. The last installment was far more detailed. As for online, there was so many bugs, problems and malfunctions with the game, it was hard for me to enjoy it. It made me wonder if there is a test department for Zipper inc. Example: wearing the guillie suit makes the player invisible, headset doesn't work 95% of the time, the weapons are far more inaccurate (except for the sniper rifles) compared to previous installments of the series. If a player enters the game late, he/or she is able to see other players through vehicles such as tanks, and have the ablity to kill the people inside. Ontop of that, the tanks are industructable. It's impossible to blow them up with 2 shots with an AT 4 or an RPG. I mean its a rocket, not a wet towel. That is just the malfunctions and bugs. Here are the problems. In order to reload you need to hold the R3 button down for at least 2 seconds. I liked it better to just click it once and I'm reloading. Instead I have to wait for my monkey for a character, to fondle his weapon to reload. The map design is alright, for the most part their too open like Fox Hunt for SC2. The VIP's are still stupid as ever. And certain weapons don't belong in certain maps. Example: On Waterworks, a player is able to equip an M2 mine, but can't plant the said mine onto the ground because the player is inside a toilet bowl. Water everywhere. Or play check points on the map Stormfront. That map is made for snipers. There is no way anyone can capture a check point unless their behind the fenced in bases. And when they finally put the first patch up, they only fixed the ranking system, and that's it. Who cares about rank when the game is broken. Unfortunately the PS2 is still an offline system, and games for it are awesome. Most of the games for online suck, but I'm not going to the Xbox camp and pay to play. I guess I'll make due of what I got. I can't wait for the PS3. If one wants to play this game, I won't tell them not to buy it. It's their choice. But as for me, I'll rent Socom 4, if it does come out. I'm not going to rush out and buy it like I did with So-crap 3.
